Community Friends
"The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field."

the Well Community is looking for committed and passionate Community Friends, who will volunteer and serve alongside us and our Community Members. Opportunities abound, and you will be sure to receive much more than you give! Our volunteer needs continue to grow and develop; therefore, if you are interested in serving, contact Joel Pulis (joel@wellcommunity.net) and we will find a place that corresponds to your interest, gifting, and availability.
Volunteer opportunities fall in four broad categories (examples are provided):
Spiritual |
- Visiting and praying with a Community Member in the Center
- Joining our monthly intercessors meeting to pray for community needs
- Leading a weekly Bible study in the Community Life Center
- Leading a small group at Tyler Street Manor (922 W 9th Street)

Friendship |
- Hanging-out in the Center – playing games, chatting, encouraging
- Driving a Community Member to the Social Security office to get an SS card
- Providing lunch (i.e., a pot of soup, sandwiches) on a Tuesday or Thursday
- Leading a walk around the neighborhood, thereby encouraging exercise

Recovery |
- Directing a cooking class that trains Community Members in healthy diet
- Training a crew of Community Members in their janitorial duties
- Teaching a simple financial management class (i.e., budgeting, etc.)

Support |
- Assisting in fundraising or administrative help in the office
- Serving as a Floor Manager at the Center (managing CM helpers)
- Serving as supply coordinator (i.e., papergoods, café stock, etc.)

Volunteer opportunities also fall into these programs and timeframes:
Saturday Night Life |
Saturdays, 4:00-8:00pm
We seek teams from local churches & other organizations that will commit to helping serve on a Saturday night. The commitment involves the provision of meal to serve approximately 80 people (approximately a $150-$200 cost), and a team to help serve the meal. |

Tues, Wed, & Thurs, 9:00am-3:00pm
Organizing and managing our clothes closet
Providing life skills training (i.e., hygiene, shopping, laundry, etc.) |

Ongoing / On-Call
Assisting a Community Member in filling out a food stamp application
Driving a Community Member to a clinic appointment
Locating and categorizing available community resources |

Weekdays / Special Projects
Coordinating all volunteer activities (i.e., Saturday teams, CLC)
Planning and managing special educational and/or fundraising events |
